I really didn’t realize how much I needed a grow tent until after I got one. My wife finally forced the issue after she didn’t like how my grow lights lit up the garage.

After I did some research, I picked up a Vivosun 48″x48″x80″ hydroponic grow tent. Here’s what I found!

Why get a grow tent? Check out this article on the 4 reasons I had to finally get a grow tent for my indoor hydroponics.

Setting Up The Vivosun Hydroponic Grow Tent

I came prepared with help when it came time to unpacking and setting up my new grow tent. My 11-year-old and I were ready to take on the challenge awaiting us. Given how big the grow tent is, I thought it was going to be some work to set up.

Everything was neatly packed and easily unboxed. I did run into a pretty big speed bump out of the gate, no directions included in the box. I looked online and luckily there are directions on the amazon listing which is shown below.

Setup was easier than I expected. Though not necessary it was definitely useful having an extra set of hands. The hardest part was fitting the second half of the grow tent over the frame, and even that wasn’t too tough.

In total it took my son and me about 30 minutes to put the grow tent together from start to finish.

Vivosun Hydroponic Grow Tent Design

When it comes to the design of the Vivosun hydroponic grow tent, there were several things that I noticed during the setup.

The first thing was that the whole frame was made out of sturdy metal piping as opposed to plastic. This is was an important feature to me and definitely something I would recommend looking for in a grow tent.

Not all metal frames are built equally. I’ve seen grow tents with cheap metal frames and once they bend its never quite as strong. I don’t feel like I will have any bending problems with this grow tents frame.

The second thing I noticed was the quality of the outer tent shell. The tent shell is made of 0.8mm thick 600D canvas and feels durable.  I was a little worried about tearing the shell when we were putting it together, it was a tight fit, but it was good to go.

The next thing I check was the quality of the zippers which I was also very impressed with. The stitching of the zipper looks strong and both the zipper and zipper teeth look pretty durable.

At the top of the tent, there are two crossbars. Each crossbar supports 110 lbs, making the tent more than able to hold up any ventilation or lighting. They are also moveable

On the front of the door there is a viewing port, so you don’t have to open up your grow tent to check on things.

There are several vents, 8 in total, that can be used for ventilation, running cords or can be completely shut. 6 of the vents have dual-layer openings with 2 cords to close both the inner and outer layers.

Last but not least, there is a nifty side pocket that is convenient for things like your pH meter, grow rooms glasses, and trimmers.

Vivosun Hydroponic Grow Tent Usability

The Vivosun hydroponic grow tent is extremely easy to use and most importantly does not get in the way between you and your garden.

There are 3 entry points make everything easily accessible, no matter the setup. The only side without an entry point is the back.

At the bottom, there is a floor tray that velcros around the corners. The floor tray makes it is easy to contain any small leaks. It’s also easy to clean your garden after harvest. Simply pull out the floor mat, wipe it down with some soapy water and your back in business.

Drawbacks To Vivosun Hydroponic Grow Tents

hydroponic negative

Potential small light leakage

If the velcro isn’t put on perfectly on the door viewing port and 2 ventilation areas there may be some light leakage.

No inside Zipper

What if I want to hide away in my garden? (Don’t judge me.)

Bottom Line

Personally I don’t think the Vivosun hydronic grow tent can be beat, especially for the price. At a little over $100 for the size grow tent I got, and the quality product that it is, this grow tent is an awesome overall value!

Dude I just subscribed to you, whats with the promotion of Vivosun products on your webpages? Our company has a strong presence in the Canadian growing market as G1 HyDro.
We have been importing goods from CN for years, The companies we distribute for such as NaLite, Oneo, ecospeed ( Weili Technology Co Ltd ) Sohan (for tents) the list goes on. and the goods we distribute are far and away superior to any solution Vivosun or Phlison, MarsHydro, Viparspectra offer without a drought. For instance, when Mars uses inferior 5670 LED chips and calls the Samsung parts, or 3030 chips that are not 301B it is sad to see you promoting them, people know what’s going on. Im liking your site as I just started checking it out and I know you are on it

Vivosun has many quality products and is a popular brand in hydroponics. This article is a REVIEW of a Vivosun grow tent, not so much a promotion, but I would recommend the product. as I’ve found it to be an awesome grow tent. Please tell me where in my review that I’m wrong.
Of course, you’re going to be biased towards the products your company distributes. If you would like me to review some of your products I’d be more than happy to check them out.
